Economic Dimension and Dissemination Plan

Economic Dimension
The following COST countries have actively participated in the preparation of the Action or otherwise indicated their interest: Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. On the basis of national estimates, the economic dimension of the activities to be carried out under the Action has been estimated at 68 Million € for the total duration of the Action. This estimate is valid under the assumption that all the countries mentioned above but no other countries will participate in the Action. Any departure from this will change the total cost accordingly.

Dissemination Plan
H.1 Who?
The target audiences for the dissemination of the results of the Action include all relevant actors in European electoral democracy. These are: voters, parties and media, the members of parliaments and governments, and the various academic faculties who take an interest in the grand question of the state of electoral democracy in Europe.

H.2 What?
The website of the Action will have a central role in the dissemination of the activities and outcomes of the Action. It will include dedicated areas for:
. Posting of general information for the public, with information useful to all actors previously mentioned in section H.1
. A document library including reports, working papers and publications produced; the survey questionnaires of National Election Studies in the original language and in English translation, the field reports of National Election Studies in English; and a constantly updated report on the state and progress of data integration.
. Posting of data files on a password protected area, dedicated to the participants of the Action.
. A discussion forum, which is expected to be useful in particular for communicating criticisms and suggestions between the Action and outside colleagues. The Action will actively participate, and possibly co-organise conferences and symposia with other research groups. In this respect the obvious partners and forums are again the European Election Study, the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems and the European Social Survey, but also the European Consortium of Political Research (ECPR) and the American Political Science Association (APSA). The target audience of such dissemination activities will be academic scholars and, indirectly, political elites broadly defined and the citizenry at large. The Action will publish reports, peer-reviewed articles and books on its main findings, in particular on the history of European election studies and the causes and consequences of electoral change in Europe. These are expected to be useful both for the academic world, the media, and the public at large.

H.3 How?
The dissemination methods described in section H.2 will be implemented under the coordination of the Working Group Leaders, and with the supervision of the Management Committee. A thorough review of the dissemination plan will be performed at every Management Committee meeting, in order to maximize the dissemination among the different target groups. It is intended that the dissemination of its activities and achievements will go beyond the life time of the Action, e.g. by integrating the website of the Action in the publication strategies of follow-up research programs.
